Echoes

Ferreira de Sá draws inspiration from the depth of Portuguese caves—their textures, colors, and geological layers—to create Echoes In/Outdoor, a collection that explores the blurred boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.

Twelve rugs crafted from polypropylene rope using three techniques—hand-woven, flatweave, and tufting—form a bridge between interior and exterior spaces, offering a harmonious blend of durability, elegance, and versatility.

For the launch, I was responsible for three key pillars:

1. Art Direction

Development of settings for residential and contract spaces to showcase the rugs in context. The aim was to highlight the collection’s versatility by including not only outdoor scenes but also semi-covered interiors, emphasizing its natural integration across different styles and environments. Again, we relied on AI-assisted 3D visualisation, which allowed us to provide diverse and unique locations.

2. Editorial

Design and development of the catalogue, shaping both the visual and conceptual narrative. The geological inspiration served as the guiding thread throughout, giving equal prominence to the product and the rich imaginary behind it.

3. Event

Production of the launch event at El Invernadero, a courtyard space in the heart of Madrid. The venue was transformed into a curated exhibition where press and design professionals discovered the collection through private viewings, creating an intimate, thoughtful, and memorable experience.
